Dreams, desire, passion, career, success; some hefty words that all are always dwelling in our neurons inside our skull. We tend to think hard, about our aspirations and our life’s goal, meaning of our existence. Some want to figure out by trying things and some are clear what to do next. Both are correct, after all it’s your life, make it large. Talking about career aspect, many of young genome wants to be an Aeronautical engineer, Flight-Attendants, Flight Engineer, Pilot, and Maintenance Engineer and so on. Here we will be discussing about what exactly these field are and where to study. Let’s start, shall we?
Aeronautical engineering
This degree represents the branch of engineering that deals with the research, design, development, construction, testing, science and technology of aircraft. The field also covers the investigation into aerodynamic characteristics of aircraft, including behaviors and related factors such as an airfoil, control surfaces, lift, and drag. In recent years, aeronautical engineering has become one of two major and overlapping branches of Aerospace Engineering, with Astronautical Engineering being the second. If you want to get to the designing part of airplane or get into operation or planning division, this is it.
Requirement:
• High school graduate (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• First division desirable
• Pass out the entrance test or pay the fee more than normal
• For USA- SAT exam with TOEFL
• Europe- IELTS and university entrance test
• For India-AIEEE, IIT or exams as per the concerned university
• China- High School pass out with PCM
• Philippines- Test by the concerned college or University
Some of the best aeronautical universities (not in any order):
1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology
2. University of Michigan- Ann Harbour
3. Georgia Institute of Technology
4. California Institute of Technology
5. Indian Institute of Technology
6. Harbin Institute of Technology, China
7. Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics
8. Korea Advance Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea
9. Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia
10. Delft University, Netherland
11. PATTS college of Aeronautics, Philippines

Maintenance Engineer
Maintenance engineer job is to take care of the maintenance part of the aircraft. They are not responsible for the planning, operation or design. It can be divided further into Mechanical or Avionics. Avionics deals with the electronics of the aircraft, from In flight entertainment system to all the sensors to emergency protocols. Whereas the Maintenance Engineer of Mechanical part deals with the hydraulics, flight controls systems (the direction altering devices), landing gears etc. Their job it to make sure all the mechanical part is healthy along with the emergency system. An aircraft is a hell of a machine which requires regular check up, everyday. Normally all the colleges providing Aeronautical Degree to provide these courses, chances are when you are studying Aeronautical you might get an option to choose these field of interest.
Requirements:
Same as Aeronautical Engineering schools

Flight attendant, Steward and Airhostess
Most of us know about this hospitality job. The attendants are the customer support personnel whose prime job is to make sure the journey of the passenger in the aeroplane is as satisfying as possible, more or less like the nurse of a hospital. They are responsible to take care of the passenger as well act efficiently in case of emergency. This job requires lot of travelling and temperament, as one can find different types of human being on board. If you are ready to take up the task to keep smiling all the time, this is it.

2. All India Institute of Aeronautics, Dehradun
3. Kingfisher Training Academy (KTA), Mumbai
4. Air Hostess Academy (AHA)(multiple cities)
5. Frank Finn Institute of Air Hostess Training (multiple cities)
6. Aptech Aviation &Hospitality Academy
7. Universal Aviation Academy (UAA) Chennai
8. Jet Aviation Academy
9. Indira Gandhi Institute of Aeronautics (IGIA)
10. Wings Airline Academy

Pilot
If you want to fly the aeroplane of helicopter, here you are. Pilot are those whose job is to take off the machine safely off the ground and bring back safely to the ground, as simple as it sounds. A pilot is supposed to have at least basic knowledge of aerodynamics. They are taught in two phases, ground schooling and real time. Ground schooling is where they learn the basic of physics and dynamics and the next part is they put their flying theoretical skill into practice. India, Philippines, South Africa and USA are the prime countries that are in the priority to learn flying. One can opt for Private Planelicence (PPL) or Commercial Plane License (CPL).
Some of the best flying schools are:
1. Port Elizabeth flying school, South Africa
2. Alpha Aviation Group, Philippines
3. South African Flight Training Academy, South Africa
4. Johannesburg Flight School, South Africa
5. Sky World Aviation Academy, Philippines

Before making a choice, make sure the institute you are opting is registered with your concerned authority. For example, not all the flying schools are recognized by all countries. It is highly recommended to check with the civil aviation department for further information. Or you could mail to us, we will try to help you out.

Next issue we will be discussing about particular institute. If you want us to review any one of your choice, feel free to drop an e-mail. Write the article name in the subject line followed by comment, for ex: -institute and sent it to feedback@udaantheflight.com.
