Khaptad National park has 22 open patches of grasslands, Khaptad daha (lake), flora, Rhododendron, Oak, Fir as well as 135 species of flowers along with 224 species of medicinal herbs. Also, the park is reported to have 226 bird species along with Nepal’s national bird; Danphe. Going to jungle safari in Khaptad National Park provides a habitat for some 20 different species of animals, common ones includes barking deer, wild boar, Goral, leopard, Wild dog and Jackal. Moving to history, it is said that Late Khaptad Baba lived in Khaptad for 50 years, meditating and worshipping and became a renowned spiritual saint which is recognized as one of the renowned religious site Khaptad Baba Ashram today and is located near the Park’s headquarter. It would only take 4 days from Kathmandu to reach Khaptad National Park trek in which you stop would be Mahendra Nagar, Jhigrana, Chorpani and then Khaptad National Park itself.
