Travel and Tourism is such an industry which is more dependent to climate. From warm, sunny, beachfront resorts, to majestic, snowy mountains and turbulence-free flights, nearly in every weather tourist keep on travelling. However, there is more profit and higher peak of travelers when the weather is stable, predictable and safe without disruption.

The rise in global warming has made almost impossible on predicting the weather. Moreover, climate change has been indirectly affecting the biodiversity, water resources, wildlife as well as landscapes. And these changes will directly impact on many aspects of popular tourism destinations. Travelers prefer those places where the beauty with comfort-ability also collides. When climate change has made the change in weather as well as season firstly travelers find difficulty in predicting the weather as well as suitable place to visit. It is because travelling to high- capped mountain should be on the cold nights and sunny evening because travelling when there is high snow would be dangerous. In other words, areas that depend on wintry conditions and activities for tourism, reduced snow cover and shorter cold seasons directly impact business.

Moreover, in case of Terai and hilly regions it’s almost impossible to stay overnight too. At that time it is better to travel on winter when the temperature is 20-24 degree Celsius. This is also the time when hotels and resorts would have a huge loss because travelers would travel and return overnight in summer. But this is also the time for airlines to earn huge profit because people prefer air transport then road because of high temperature. Climate change has brought a huge impact to the business and tourism, affecting the tourism areas to degrade and collapse because of no tourist, in wildlife reserves many plants and animals has been migrating to other areas or in verse of extinct because of extreme cold or extreme hot. Water resources are draining as well as being polluted developing the risk of health among people

In spite of these changes, there are opportunities for beach-side and mountain-based regions alike to adapt to the changing climate. Coastal destinations can construct resorts at a given height above sea level, store food for emergencies, implement disaster training and preparedness for staff, and modify existing infrastructure to standards that can withstand major weather events. And mountain-based businesses can take a “four-seasons” approach by offering diverse activities like indoor sports, trekking and biking in warmer months, and increasing retail and spa offerings for visitors. There are also opportunities for airlines and online travel companies too.

Thus, climate change has impacted almost all fields of travel and tourism creating the impact on operating cost, on business continuity, wildlife, hotels as well as aviation. Taken care on those sectors can help in making the campaign of ‘visit Nepal 2020’ success as well as rise in tourism sectors.
