Langtang national Park is one of the nearest national park of the Capital, Kathmandu in the Central Himalayan Region which was established in 1976 so to conserve the unique flora and fauna of the region, The 1710 sq. km. of the park extends over parts of Nuwakot, Rasuwa, and Sindhupalchok districts in the southern mountainous terrain of the Nepal-China (Tibet) border. The park has been maintained by the local community people itself where the 30-40% revenue are from that park is itself given to local community or BZ so to better manage the natural resources on that region and sustainably supply resources and help in community development.
While safety of plants and animals is the first concern of any national park, a search campaign had been conducted in Langtang National Park by its departmental office, Rasuwa. The search campaign in the forest under its work area for animal welfare has been finally completed on June 23, 2019. And according to the Head of Langtang National Park Conservation Office, based on the research it has been found that 22 wire traps had been set by poachers. Moreover, the joint patrol of the Nepal Army, local youth and staff members of the Langtang National Park Office deployed for safety and security, managed to rescue two injured animals while four animals were found dead during the operation in the forest area.
In addition, based on the campaign and research it was also found that tourist who came to visit had brought 12 drone cameras without permission. In result, security posts are also built within the forest area for the security of the Langtang National Park, spreading around 1,710 sq km of the Himalaya region under Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchok districts.
Thus, Langtang national park exhibits the high diversity of 14 vegetation types in 18 ecosystem types, ranging from upper tropical forests to below 1000m altitude to alpine scrub and perennial ice. The search campaign for the safety of wildlife has been conducted in this area time and often which has been helping to promote the place, bring safety to flora and fauna as well as increase the standard of local community there.
