Travelling is found in the blood of almost every human being. While travelling, most people either seek for adventure or for relaxation and fun. And Nepal is the box of all these packages; adventure, fun, relaxation as well as learning’s. Looking at the success rate of Visit Nepal 1998 and Nepal Tourism Year 2011, Nepal Government has announced the year 2020 as the Visit Nepal Year 2020.
The campaign ‘Visit Nepal 2020’ was scheduled in 2018 so to promote Nepal as a safe place to travel and inform only 12 out of 75 districts are affected by earthquake 2015, which till 2020 would be maintained. Nepal has been trying to increase the tourism industry after a country recognized tourism as the major economic contributor to its GDP. While many campaigns have been increased from time to time to help promote tourism in Nepal, the result wasn’t good as it was expected. So, when seeing the growth of tourist in Nepal at the year 2017, Government of Nepal incorporated with the Ministry of culture, tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) came upon with the new vision of promoting Nepal to foreign countries and have a travel at a minimum cost which is ‘Visit year 2020’ campaign. The campaign was planned in 2015 to be held in 2018 but was rescheduled in 2020.
For the visit Nepal 2020, people choose to travel various attractive places with mountain trekking such as Annapurna Base Camp, Everest Base camp, Mansalu Circuit trek, Ghorepani PoonHill trek, etc. Also, many historical and religious places are available such as Pashupatinath, Swyambhunath, Bouddhanath, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, etc. Moreover, adventure activities such as Bungee Jumping, Rock Climbing, Paragliding, Sky Diving, etc. is available. Monasteries, religious sites and culture is the main glory of Nepal so to attract the tourists, government and tourism board has been renovating all the religious places such as Patan Durbar Square, Basantapur Durbar Square, etc. which had been damaged by earthquake. All the historical sites and roads are also being reconstructed and maintained.  Moreover, the expansion of the Tribhuwan International Airport is being planned also the reconstruction of Gautam Buddha Airport in Bhairawa is been done. The ministry will initiate the process to bring strategic partner for Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) — the national flag carrier. It also plans to take forward NAC’s proposal to purchase two more narrow-body aircraft.
On top of that, the 60-day plan is also strategizing to carry out tourism promotional activities to tap potential outbound travelers of certain countries including India, China, USA, and the United Kingdom. Besides, the private hotel sector is planning to expand the hotel facilities in top tourism cities including Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Pokhara.
Campaign has been planned but the major question most tourists ask was; is it safe to travel Nepal. The fear of calamities has inclined the tourism sector downwards living the prominent source of income under jeopardy. However, only 5 districts of a country were affected which is also being renovated these days. Apart from that, all other destination was entirely untouched.  So, to mitigate the fall in the tourism sector and to rise from the ashes following the devastating incident, the government came up with the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign. Besides, it is also the move to remove the fear from the eyes of travelers and titling Nepal as a safe place to travel. Up to this point, the Tourism Board has checked each and every hiking route’s and has signaled it safe to trek and travel. Apart from that, the national parks are also cleared for a visit after being repaired from the endured damage. The government is also giving new look to the damaged roads and effectively participating in constructing the new ones as per necessity. Besides, the building and temples all over the affected districts are thoroughly checked by the approved engineers and those to have been adversely affected by the earthquake are stamped red. There are only a few buildings with red marks as most of them are broken down and constructed into new ones.
To conclude, keeping a great effort from the government and involved parties, Nepal is eyeing a huge success coming up with a new vision of ‘Visit Nepal 2020’ campaign. The movement is mostly targeted for better economic growth and making Nepal known as a beautiful and safe country to adventure all over the world.
